WIELICZKA

 

The Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Wieliczka Salt Mine was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1978. With the salt mine in Bochnia, it is the only one object in the world open from the Middle Ages to the present. Among the tourists, the most popular point of sightseeing is the Chapel of St. Kinga with the monument of John Paul II made of salt, and the Weimar Chamber with an underground lake.

 

Saltworks Castle and the Museum of Krakow Salt Works

Castle from its inception until 1945 was the residence for the so-called ,,żupników” –the directors and administrators of the mine. At present, the Salt Mine Museum is located there now - the largest underground museum in Europe holding the one of a kind collection of wooden hoisting machines, as well as unique mining maps.

 
 

Konopka Palace

This late Baroque palace was built by the brothers Konopka at the end of the eighteenth century. The building served as a residence for families of officials of saline, and then as a library. Currently the Palace is holding a branch of the Institute of National Remembrance.

 

3D painting ,,Salt World”

,, Salt World ", made by artist Richard Paprocki, is the largest three-dimensional image, painted on the street. This piece of art is a pictorial vision of mine and shows characteristic fragments of the true interior of the Wieliczka salt mines (eg. Chapel of Saint Kinga).

 

Church of Sts. Sebastian

The building of this larch church began in 1581, and was consecrated by Cardinal Jerzy Radziwill in 1598. In the inside, there are two paintings of the sixteenth century with an image of St. Sebastian and the Virgin Mary with Child.

 

Xtreme Park

Tourists, who prefer active recreation, must visit Park Grabówki and take advantage of the offer the rope park there. On two routes of varying difficulty contains, there are 35 of obstacles. You can also choose one of the pitch and play basketball and volleyball . Tennis courts and a playground are also available.

Golf course

Just 3 km from the Wieliczka, in Ochmanow, there is a 43 hectare of golf courses, belonging to the Royal Kraków Golf & Country Club. At your disposal is the 9-hole Par 72 golf course, that for sure will give to players a moment of relaxation and entertainment.

 

KRAKÓW

Wawel Castle, Main Market Square with Cloth Hall and St. Mary's Church are the compulsory points of sightseeing for those, who are visiting Krakow. Also worth a visit is the historic Julisz Słowacki Theatre. Night life goes on in Kazimierz, the historic Jewishdistrict, currently crowded by pubs and climate bars.

 

 

WADOWICE

In Wadowice is available for tourists, family home of John Paul II. Located right next to the papal home, there is Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where Karol Wojtyla was baptized. 6 km from Wadowice, in Inwałd, you can visit the Miniature Park, where you will see you replicas of objects such as the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty or Great Wall of China. On the other hand Zator (15km) offers activities for children: Dinozatorland and amusement park Energylandia.

 

OŚWIĘCIM

  • Oświęcim Auschwitz

Oświęcim and located there the former German concentration camp Auschwitz - Birkenau is a symbol of destruction carried out by the Nazis. In the existing in 1940-1945 camp, there was a murder of approx. 1.1 million prisoners of different nationalities. In Oświęcim there is also a restored Jewish Synagogue ,,Chevra Lomdej Misznajot”.

 

ZAKOPANE

The capital of Tatra mountains offers its guests not only walk through the famous Krupówki. In Zakopane there is also a historic Villa Koliba, built in Zakopane style, as well as the cemetery on Pęksowym Brzyzku. Gubałówka can be reached by cable car, while amateur mountain climbers can get the Morskie Oko or Gąsienicowa trail.

 

BOCHNIA

Bochnia, similar to Wieliczka, is holding one of the oldest salt mine in the world. The route, open to visitors, includes multimedia and interactive presentations. In Bochnia there is also a thirteenth-century Basilica dedicated to Saint Nicholas, Butterfly Museum and Archaeological Park ,,Osada VI Oraczy", which is a reconstruction of a medieval village.

 

NIEPOŁOMICE

The biggest attraction of Niepołomice is the fourteenth-century royal castle, founded by King Casimir III the Great. Right next to the castle walls is a settlement Podegrodzie - in the village cottages have been preserved original equipment (eg. bread oven). Tourists who are thirsty of peace and relaxation, should take a in the Niepołomice Forest.
